Ashton Fitzgerald, Duke of Claymore has never been for want of a willing woman in his bed and his rakish ways have become legend in boudoirs and dark corners all across London. But not even Ashton can account for the powerful desire that surges through him when a mysterious woman pays him a clandestine midnight visit. As dawn breaks, his goddess flees before he can learn her identity. Now Ashton will stop at nothing to unmask the identity of the woman who bewitched him body and soul and make her his . . . forever.
I have to admit that I imagined something a bit different when I started reading, but ended up loving how things unfolded. I couldn't imagine what Daphne saw in Edward at all! He was a weak man who wanted her money and to change her into something that she wasn't.
Now, Ashton on the other hand.. he was clearly the better option, especially once we discover that he has held a tendre for her for years. I loved that Daphne didn't just fall in line with what he wanted and I liked that he gave her time to reconcile what she was feeling.
When you read as much as I do it is nice to find something just different enough to whet your appetite again and have you looking forward to what comes next, both in the story and from the author.
