Deadly Devotion by Sandra Orchard
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The story was engaging, but I guess that I kept waiting for something to happen that didn't. I wanted to see more depth in the relationship between Tom and Kate. I didn't really feel like the romantic connection between them was real in any way. I really wanted Kate to slow down and realize that she was going a million miles/hr in every direction without fully realizing what was going on. I also really wished I could slap her friend for being a bit obnoxious. You cannot force people, even good friends, to open up about personal issues, not even with ice cream. I know she meant well.. but honestly!
I did like that the murderer wasn't obvious and that I had to read the whole story to find out what happened. I wanted to know more about the research that Kate and Daisy were doing, as well as the Peter character that she never got around to contacting after he left that cryptic message. Perhaps that will come into play in the next book.
I will probably read the next book, if only to see if anything resolves.
